Overland Trips in the US
Is overland trips part of your to-do list? If yes, then let me give you couple of great destinations in the US that you must give a try. You should have your used travel trailer and pack everything for an awesome ride.
The truth is, overlanding is one of the latest and newest outdoor activities for those who are after thrill and adventure with their car but with their used travel trailer too. It is has great similarities to backpacking but a bit more tough as it is coupled with set of wheels to bring you cross country rather than buses, trains and the likes. There is a unique goal when it comes to overlanding and it is by making the best of actual journey itself and not only reaching the destination.
As what is discussed earlier, overlanding is one of the latest crazes in cross country adventure and it is considered as self-reliant travel to remote locations of the country wherein you’re supposed to enjoy the trip and the destination. To make it simple, you will be travelling on longer distances and on unusual terrains in an off-road and rugged vehicle that is designed for this purpose. Of course, you have as well your used travel trailer which carries everything that you need in order to get through the trip.
I’m sure that you are all excited to learn about the journey and destinations to be through with your vehicle, so let’s get started.
Number 1. Mojave Road – this route is passing through California and could not be ironic for newbie in overlanding. The Mojave Road is actually a 140-mile stretch and requiring 2 or 4 days to complete. Therefore, it is a nice overlanding trip and experience if you are running short of time. In addition to that, due to the reason that the trail will be crossing from east to west as well as several mountain ranges, it will be highly recommended to use a vehicle that has 4WD feature.
Number 2. Cape Lookout National Seashore – in case that you’re not into desert trip but would like to see fair amount of sand, then a good alternative to this one would be North Carolina barrier island. Some of the great routes to take in this region together with your used travel trailer is the 56-mile National Seashore located at Cape Lookout.
This one includes South and North Core Banks and if you don’t want to go through any hassle of ferrying your car, then you may stick to North Core Bank. It’s worth it to give a try to ferry your vehicle and used travel trailer to South Core Bank as well.
